Dancing Matters working group consists of dance therapists, music therapists, social circus pedagogues and activists as well as civil society organizations like CABUWAZ? and BoMoVu.
They base their work on the conviction that dance and the use of body and movements are human rights as well as creative and strengthening ways for self-expression. Therefore, the group has identified heritage local dances and dance related stories or elements as important steps for developing dance related contents for children. The group participants developed a dance based cultural education program for children, that brings children together beyond language barriers, pushes their self confidence and gives them support in being actors in learning different local dances while developing their own cultural identity.
The group developed a video tutorial, in which a traditional, local dances and the (cultural) stories behind the dance are introduced. The focus of the videomaterial is the playful learning of each dance. The participants provide the pedagogues/facilitators with a written booklet comprised of additional pedagogical material to run these series of dance workshops.
