Including music and dance therapists, museum pedagogues, teachers, drama trainers and representatives of cultural institutions, ARTOGETHER Working Group aims to encourage the inclusiveness of art spaces, museums and cultural institutions.
This working group sets out on the road with the idea of contributing to the inclusiveness of art-based activities and thus, increasing access of diverse communities and especially children from different socio-cultural backgrounds, family languages and socio-economic levels to art and cultural life.
In the next one and a half year, a set of activities and tools will be designed. These tools will be suitable for the use of teachers, social workers, artists and museum pedagogues who run workshops with children.
Our project participants will be visiting art spaces to carry out exploratory piloting sessions in order to further develop their ideas. The activities will not only target museums and art spaces but will be suitable to be implemented with art works and monuments in the public spaces as well as in school settings or community centers, via digital tools or simple prints of the artworks.
The output is planned to be an “activity bag” that will include different tools to encourage children to express themselves verbally, visually and creatively, introduce multilingualism into their activities and inspire them to discover works of arts and museums.
This activity bag will include a trainers handbook and a set of activities that will operate at different layers such as, active use of art spaces, fostering inclusion, experiencing works of arts and interpreting them and most importantly, strengthening relations among the children through artworks.
Employing a holistic approach, the activities will make use of different artistic methods such as drama, rhythm & sound, drawing, games, role playing and body movements.
This set of tools will put a special emphasis on bringing the language of art and multilingualism together. Thus, the project participants will incorporate elements of multilingualim in the activity flows.
What will the Artogether Bag include?
Trainers Handbook: A manual that will guide the trainers in their effort towards inclusiveness and employing arts as a tool of encounter and interaction among children.
Activity Cards: Cards that will present activities related to one or more works of arts that will employ different artistic methods.
Museum Rules: A card that will specify the main guidelines to be followed in museums and art galleries which will be designed in the simplest possible way. There will be an additional guideline to invite children to come up with those rules.
Museum Diary: A tool that will consolidate the learning outcomes of the activities and museum visits. This diary will be used after the activities are implemented.
