ALL TOGETHER in Hatay

One of the capacity building programs by HEP BERABER is “Together With Parents” Program and it aims to raise awareness and strengthen the capabilities of the professionals who directly work with parents in different NGOs in designing and delivering activities and trainings with parents.

In collaboration with Hayata Destek, we have organized an implementation of “Together With Parents” Program on 16th and 17th of March in Hatay. This capacity building program has convened 14 participants from different positions such as social workers, youth workers, psychologists and psycho-social support teams, reach-out teams, recruitment to school teams from Adana, Hatay and Mersin. 

Among the aims of the “Together with Parents” Program are,

• To invite the participants to think in an innovative way on how to bring together parents from different backgrounds in the activities that will focus on the parents’ common needs,
• how to create sessions with parents in order to question the perception of children, to discuss children’s needs and rights,
• To familiarize them with tools and methods to be inclusive and participatory in parental work
• To include language and cultural diversity in parental support programs in order to improve social cohesion.

During the visit to Hatay, we have visited Altınmzü Culture Center and Olive Craft Cooperative (HAZEK) and there, we have explored the examples of how to bring together parents from Turkey and parents with migration background in common activities.
